Steve has over 40 years of experience in real estate finance, development and investment. Steve served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Weyerhaeuser Realty Investors for eight years. In that capacity, he provided overall direction for the company and was the Chairman of its investment committee. Under his management the company grew from approximately $200 million of assets under management to nearly $4 billion on behalf of institutional, international and family office investors.
Prior to assuming the Presidency, Steve functioned in a variety of other roles for the company including as its Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Controller.
In addition to leading WRI, Steve was a member of the investment committee for the Weyerhaeuser Company pension fund and the Vice Chairman of the American Red Cross serving King and Kitsap Counties, and Homestead Capital where he also chaired its investment committee.
Subsequent to Weyerhaeuser Realty, in 2011, Steve formed Orcas Realty Advisors, LLC with two colleagues to provide real estate consulting and investment advisory services to institutional investors. Orcas Realty Advisors also does real estate development and investment. Steve also started Orcas Capital, LLC in 2010 as a real estate investment and advisory company.
Steve holds a Master of Business Administration degree from San Diego State University where he was also a graduate teaching assistant and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
